Little quilting share my experience

A good book

Posted on: 7/27/2004

I recently borrow a good book from library called That Perfect Stitch by
Roxanne McElroy. This is good for beginner and advance quilters as well. The book not just introduce about hand quilting technique, it also mention about how to choose cloth, needle, thread, quilting frame and batting. There are comparison between different brand names that best suit for hand quilting. The author also invent her own brand of thimble. The users seems have good comment on it but the price is really expensive. The cheapest one is cost US$45. Users comment that there is no pain in hand when using this thimble to quilt and can quilt much longer than the traditional one plus the bonus of avoiding carpal tunnel diseases. This really a temptation for me though !

About me
In year 2001, I discovered that
there was a quilting TV Show
called "Simply Quilt" in HGTV
channel that inspired me to start
quilting.
It was not so easy in the process
of self learning but later I
discovered a magazine called
"Quiltmaker" which has a lot of
patterns that I can use from it.
At the year end of 2003, I
started to self-learning Chinese
typing then I discovered from
the internet that there was a
Taiwan quilting group called
"Happy Quilting Group" which
was organized by a lady
named May.
After joining the group then I
have made some small projects
i.e. cup, doll and tool bag etc.
